Dearest Grandma,

I cannot believe it has been a full year since you went home to be with The Lord. It’s been a very trying year. I’m glad you did not have to experience COVID-19, the continued struggle for black lives to matter, or this election cycle. I miss talking to you every day. I miss your positive outlook on nearly everything. I miss our visits and way that you were able to put my troubled mind at ease with your smile, encouraging words, and your hugs. Although I had been preparing for you to go, I was not prepared to see you leave. I miss you so much and wish God could grant us a chance to see each other again, but I know that cannot happen right now. I know I will see you again one day though and I hope it will be a joyous reunion. Until then, know that I love you so much and hope to make you proud of me. 😢

Love,
Derek
